Blake and Cathy Miller are your instructors. Both have been actively involved in the outdoors as hunters, backpackers and fishermen. They are 20 year Navy veterans with backgrounds in navigation. Blake and Cathy have taught classes to personnel in the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Search and Rescue Teams, wild land firefighters and Smoke Jumpers, hunters, hikers, skiers, fishermen and equestrians. Blake is also on staff at the Central Oregon and Chemeketa Community College’s continuing education program as an instructor. The GPS class offered by the Millers covers the basics of GPS navigation, screen presentations and the many functions of handheld systems. A principle objective of the class is for the student to confidently use their GPS receiver to safely find their way in and out of the wilderness. The Miller's are heavily involved within the community. They are volunteers with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Becoming an Outdoor Woman (BOW) program. Cathy is a Director on the Redmond School Board, a volunteer in several programs dealing with substance abuse prevention, youth leadership at Redmond High School and is a Hunter Education Instructor. Blake is a former member of the Board of Directors of the local park district, a youth soccer coach and a mentor for high school students. The Millers reside in the Pacific Northwest's high mountain desert of Oregon and are the parents of three teen age boys.
